Optomechanics & Nanomechanics Thesis Award for Dylan Cattiaux

The french-based optomechanics & nanomechanics community GdR MécaQ has awared their newly introduced Young Research Award to our EMP colleague Dylan Cattiaux "for observing the quantum ground state of vibration of a solid state mechanical resonator and describing the associated thermodynamic properties"

The programm extends over 9 days and includes a theoretical part hosted in the Château de Passières in Chichilianne as well as a practical hands-on part organized at the CNRS site. Call for Proposals

EMP is happy to announce a new call for proposals. Since February 28th, 2019 potential users can apply with their ideas for low-temperature experiments - eight sites are available to host experiments in their cryostates and provide technical and scientific support. The funding also includes traveling, accommodation and experimental costs.

EMP kicks off in Heidelberg

The EMP has started it's work with a kick-off meeting hosted at Heidelberg University from Jan 16th to Jan 18th, 2019. The meeting allowed the involved researchers to discuss details of the proposed projects. Furthermore, the project's first general assembly took place, electing the Joint Industrial Advisory Committee, the Industrial Advisory Committee, the Innovation Committee and the Dissemination Committee.

EMP funded by the European Commission

The European Microkelvin Platform will receive 9.98 M€ in the next four years from the European Commisson for supporting user access to its facilities as well as operating and updating the infrastructure. A specific call for user proposals will be issued shortly.

EMP responded to the H2020-INFRAIA-2018-2020 call by the EC

EMP has submitted a proposal answering the H2020-INFRAIA-2018-2020 call by the European Commission. The call is about opening up the EMP fascilities for transnational users. In addition, it supports measures to improve the infrastructure, as well as related innovation projects.

This call is intended to encourage workers who might need ultralow temperature facilities but have none in their home institutions to make use of those offered by the EMP. You will find a list of the facilities we offer, how to contact the EMP, and how to express an interest on this web site.

Technical University of Vienna joins EMP

Since 2017 the Technical University of Vienna is a new member institution of the European Microkelvin Platform. Its ultralow temperature facilites add a new dimension to the portfolio of EMP. With the addition of TU Vienna we will be able to cover in particular the needs of users working on strongly correlated electron systems even better.

One of the most advanced facilities in the world for quantum technology has been opened by the Chief Executive of the EPSRC of Lancaster University. The new facility will be open to European users via EMP.

EMP at LT28 in Gothenburg

EMP was advertising its facilities at the 28th International Conference on Low Temperature Physics in Gothenburg, which was attended by over 900 scientiests from all over the world. Many potential user came to the EMP booth to discuss possible projects.


EMP Institution Heidelberg University hosts ULT-2017

This International Conference on Ultralow Temperature Physics ULT-2017 was held at the Kirchhoff Institute for Physics in Heidelberg organized by the EMP member institution Heidelberg University. More than 180 scientists from all over the world came to this conference to discuss the latest results from a wide range of topics.
